ICPUG VIDEO BLOG INTRODUCTION

Bill Ritchie

Up until now ICPUG has been a medium for the written word. As we approach a new year, ICPUG is to start an experiment with the latest idea from the 'Web 2.0' toolbox, a Video Blog.

Those of you who were around for the earliest days of the ICPUG web presence will know that the first webmaster was Bill Ritchie. When Bill had to devote more time to his job in the army I took over the job. Recently, Bill got in touch and suggested the idea of a Video Blog. Not one to reject new ideas, so long as it does not cause me too much work(!), I agreed to this. The link below is the first offering in what I hope will become a series.

Please bear in mind that this is an experiment and things may not be perfectly polished - although I am impressed that, in his first blog, Bill managed to finish within the allotted time with no mad rush at the end!

Please let me know what you think. I would welcome constructive criticism about this idea. I am not going to say anything myself just yet, as I do not want to prejudice the opinions of others. Please send any comments to my e-mail address on the Response Page. Please mention Video Blog in the subject line of the e-mail.

If any more of you are interested in providing video or audio blogs, with content appropriate to ICPUG, then please get in touch. I will be happy to link to suitable content from other ICPUG readers. However, ICPUG cannot host the blog content.

I must emphasise that the opinions expressed in the blog are those of Bill. I have no means of editing it! Your attention is drawn to the Disclaimer on the Video Blog Contents Page.

Those are the formalities over with. Please enjoy the blog. It lasts for 6 minutes and is streamed to your PC. I think it uses a Windows Media Player streaming format.

I viewed it perfectly OK over a 1MB broadband link.

Brian Grainger (Webmaster)
