ICPUG Membership Services

DotContact with Other MembersDot

Join ICPUG and you can start straight away to write to all the other members through the pages of the magazine, whether by letter to the editor or by contributing your thoughts and interests, or just to ask for information to help you out of a fix. Many ICPUG members are now on-line and are contactable by e-mail, and there is an ICPUG area on CIX.

DotDiscountsDot

The Discount Officer has negotiated special prices on a range of hardware and software. Information about this appears regularly in the ICPUG Journal. Suppliers are also listed who are often the only source for products for the older machines.

DotFree Public Domain SoftwareDot

ICPUG has an extensive library of programs for PCs, the Amiga, and Commodore machines. Access to library disks is FREE TO MEMBERS. For the PC both DOS and Windows public domain and shareware are available. There are over 1600 disks for the Amiga, and separate libraries for the Commodore 64, C128, Plus4/C16, VIC 20 and PET. The libraries are simple to use. You send off two blank disks (or up to five in the case of the Amiga) to the relevant copier (listed at the back of the Journal) enclosing return postage, your request and your membership number. The disks are copied and returned to you. The software is FREE, the copying is FREE and you only pay for postage. There is no limit to the number of separate requests you can make over a period of time.

DotThe JournalDot

ICPUG Members receive a regular magazine known as the journal, which is packed with articles, news items, hints and tips. Some of the articles are written by the members themselves, others come from the networks, bringing information from around the world. The ICPUG Journal has been published without a break since 1978.

Features of the Journal include a Discount Corner listing suppliers offering discounts, or those who offer a special service to ICPUG members. The For Sale and Wanted column is often the only way to obtain items required for Commodore machines which are no longer made. Readers Write is another popular section of the Journal.

Topics covered in the Journal range from the very latest information from manufacturers, to help and advice for owners of computers made by the former Commodore Company. There are reports on computer shows and regional meetings. In fact anything, within reason, to do with computers - the content is up to the members who submit the articles!

DotRegional GroupsDot

There are a number of regional groups which are affiliated to ICPUG, and they hold regular meetings in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Public Domain software is available at some Groups. Software piracy is banned. Most groups arrange lectures and computer demonstrations. Help and advice is offered to beginners on open nights. For further information visit the Regional Groups page. The groups are also listed in the ICPUG journal.

DotTechnical AdviceDot

Telephone hot-lines and E-mail services are run by expert volunteers who give freely of their time in the evenings to answer questions from fellow members. PCs, the Amiga and Commodore computers are all covered.
