EDITORIAL

by Brian Grainger: email.gif (183 bytes)brian@grainger1.freeserve.co.uk

After my moans last time about Front Page Express I have tried using Microsoft Word 97 in HTML mode to prepare the E-Journal this time. It is definitely better although it still has some idiosyncrasies. Please let me know if something irritating has crept in that I am unaware of.

For the E-Journal this time I have commissioned two articles. The first, from a new contributor Tony Gogay, tells us how to transfer our vinyl records to CD. The second, from Bill Wood, deals with tracing your family tree.

Ken Ross covers various topics including sending faxes by e-mail.

Alan Crease is back with his latest thoughts. In particular, after my comment last time that to get a PC that works you pay a premium, he tells us how to buy cheaply with confidence.

There were no other contributions so it has been left to me to fill the spaces. I haven't done any crystal ball gazing recently so I rectified that by suggesting PCs in the home are doomed. I then thought I would write something on a useful utility I found trawling the net that sets the clock on your PC accurately. Finally, I have started to write a new blockbuster series for ICPUGSE on the Windows 95/98 registry. The first part makes its debut here on the net.

In the last Editorial I offered some suggestions as to how we might use the web pages and asked for you to e-mail me with comments. You must have been stunned as I did not receive a single reply. Perhaps nobody reads these pages and I am living in a fantasy world, talking to myself. I hope not. Click the mail link at the top of the page and let me know you are there!

Deadline for the next issue is 11th November.
