17th January 2005 | BILL GATES AND THE CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW |

The Consumer Electronic Show was all the rage in Las Vegas last week. This was the big event where future products in the consumer PC and electronic field were previewed. Bill Gates was there to give a keynote speech, where he introduced his next concept for Windows, the Media Centre PC. This is where the PC becomes the deliverer of all TV, DVD, audio in the living room. Oh what fun the demo was. He got the Windows BSOD (blue screen of death) and from all accounts it did not recover. Just what you need. Your TV to go dead just as that vital goal is being scored! I bet Bill does not talk about this in his interview with Click Online next week! Mentioning Click Online brings up another of my bones of contention. How does one know what is on some TV channels these days? A friend of mine told me about Click Online last week. I had never heard of it. He said he had seen it early morning on a news channel. My listings paper does not indicate what are the non-news programmes on the 24 hour News channels, which is a bit of a shame as I have 4 of them. I Googled for Click Online and found it was on the BBC. It even gave program details as follows: BBC1: Sunday at 07.30 The full 30 minute program is on BBC News 24 at the following times: Guess it is a case of setting the video recorder. As I say, next weekend (22-24 Jan 2005) Bill Gates will be interviewed. |
