Many thanks to those who pointed out the Web Mastering errors I had made in the last E-Journal. I eventually tracked down the root cause and as well as correcting the last issue I hope I have avoided repeating the errors this time. After correcting the errors of last time I also revised the zip file and uploaded it again. If you keep an offline copy of the E-Journal you may wish to download the revised zip file for issue 3.
There were no detrimental comments regarding the introduction of the zip file for offline reading and Bill Ritchie was very positive. Consequently this is the sole method being supported for this issue. That is how it will be in future unless I hear calls to bring back the old way.
As mentioned in my waffle last time the web site has moved onto a new server. This happened on the 7th July. Although no one pointed out any problems to me I got concerned when I did not receive any Visitor Book entries or For Sale/Wanted ads. There was a minor problem on the server which meant that anyone trying to send a communication, via one of our forms, would receive an error message which they probably did not understand! It all got sorted on the 23rd July and as far as I am aware everything is fine now. I should point out that the long time to correct the fault was due to me not twigging there was a problem. I was not too bothered about not receiving stuff 'cos I was busy editing and writing! Our server is now provided by Easynet, which is where Harry Broomhall plies his trade. Thanks go to Easynet for supplying the hardware and ICPUGSE for dealing with the administration and letting us use these pages.
Bill Ritchie continues to keep in contact with me. He has been working 14-16 hour days setting up communications for the peace keeping force in Kosovo and consequently finds himself rather busy. His tour of duty is planned to end later in the year and expects to be working in the UK from October. He is planning to get his new abode fitted with ISDN, so someone will have fast Internet links!
