Storing the Journal for Reading Off-Line

There are a number of ways to read this journal:
Read it on-line. That's OK if you live in the USA and enjoy free local calls, however, the poor Europeans amongst us may wish to digest its contents off-line.
Flick through each page quickly then go off-line and read it on the Browser before closing it down. The pages will be stored on your disk as temporary internet files, so this should be easy enough to do.
Most people may prefer the second method, because it's cheaper, but the advantage of an electronic journal is that it can be cross referenced by hyperlinks. As it continues to grow you should be able to read the current edition and flick back to previous editions by following the links - that's the whole essence of HTML! It is for that reason that I have structured this electronic journal and the web site's folders in a way that will make off-line storage and reading a reasonably easy task. All you need to do to achieve the goal is to save each journal, along with its graphics, and you will then be able to enjoy it at your leisure. Not only that it should build into a useful electronic reference.
The first thing you need to do is to create a directory structure the same as the one I have on our Internet site. Whilst you don't necessarily need this now, it will become important with subsequent editions as the Journals continue to build. For ease of reference I have shown how it is laid out below:
The bulk of the ICPUG web pages are contained in the national folder (or directory). You don't actually need to create such a folder unless you want to copy all the other pages, but you should create the folders from "journals" onwards down to ej199.
This copy of the journal is stored in ej299 (because it's the first Journal of 199). It stands to reason that the next will be ej299, so you can go ahead and create that now as well if you wish - along with the rest for the remainder of the year - ej399 to ej699. We aim to publish six journals per year.
All you have to do to save the Journal is to start from the cover page, and follow the next arrows
and encounter the No Entry Sign
Having saved each page into the ej299 folder simply go the the Graphics Used in This Edition Page, go down to the table, right click on each graphic and do a "Save Picture As" (again don't change the name of the file) into the ej299 folder.
Having done everything above, you are ready to read off-line. If you have lost track of where you are do a FILE OPEN from your browser. Go to the ej299 directory, select index.htm, and load it. You should now be looking at the Journal Cover Page. All the links should work as you flick through the Journal - with the exception of the HOME link
will have the same effect.
Obviously if you click on the YAHOO link
your browser will attempt to go on-line, and go to the YAHOO site, so that's probably another one to avoid during your off-line reading session.
