5th September 2004 | BBC MICRO DRIVE FIX |
Gavin Haines |
The 80 track BBC Micro disk drive delved out of long term storage did not work, and I was on the point of putting the thing out for the dustmen when it occurred to me to take the thing apart. Inside there is a little metal housing covering the magnetic head and it had fallen off, jamming the mechanism. It was held in place by a small piece of foam rubber, like double sided draft excluder. This had disintegrated. I peeled it off both sides and attached a double sided sellotape sticky to replace it. Now the drive is as good as new. |
