22nd June 2002 | BT INTERNET ACCESS PRICES RISE |
Brian Grainger |
The price of using the Internet continue to rise. That nice organisation, British Telecom, writes to tell me that their Surftime packages are about to rise in price. Surftime is the package that allows unlimited surfing during offpeak hours only or at all times. Previously these cost £6 and £20 a month respectively. From July 1st they are going up to £7 and £25 a month! (On top of these charges will come whatever the ISP charges.) The offpeak Surftime price change represents a 16% rise and the anytime package change is a whopping 25%. That's just in 2 years since the services were introduced. Will someone explain to me how inflation is currently running under 2% a year? I think they only include the prices of things we do not buy! |
