We are off and running. The first of the big Linux distributions, Mandrake Linux, have now released a major update to include the new 2.6 Kernal. It comes in three flavours as follows: Discovery 10 is targeted at the new/Desktop workstation user. It comes on 2 CDs plus a Live CD, so you can try before you install (like Knoppix). The price of Discovery 10 is $49.90. PowerPack 10 is for the power workstation user. It includes lots more applications and the price is $84.90. Finally PowerPack+ 10 is for the server. It comes on 8CDs and a DVD. The price is $229.90. I thought Linux was supposed to be free, or at least cheap! Press Release for the launch of these items can be found at: |
